A quick flick through last weeks issue of 'Look' magazine and what do we see but an article on Tummy Firming Lotions! 4 were tested
  • NIVEA My Silhouette £11.99
  • Biotherm £26
  • L'Occitane £26.50
  • Rodial £100 (Sheesh!)
I'm proud to say that My Silhouette! was the only product to get 5 stars!!! Woohoo. Here's what The Beauty Editor said 'This is aimed at the three trouble areas- Legs, bum and tum. The gel is rich and moisturising and I felt more toned after a week. Matilda said: The gel glided on and felt lovely to massage in. I also noticed more firmness to my skin. Not only is it bargainous, it works! (see for yourself on our feedback/comments page) :-)

After a very quick survey of the boys in their office. (I'm rolling my eyes because somehow one of the chaps in the office managed to bring the conversation round to dwarfs who weigh 7 stone????) We have discovered that none of them want size zero women. Yippee!! Most men in fact would like a woman with curves or even one mentioned 'athletic with breasts'.

So why oh why do us girls go in for tummy tucks, breast implants, crash diets that make us sick, face lifts, slimming pills, diet pills, drive you crazy pills, Trinny and Susannah.... please don't make me go on.
I may not have a tummy that's as flat as I would like or a bum a bit softer than it probably should be. But all in all I'm happy with my Silhouette! And that's the way I like it.
Besides if I have any cash to spare, I'd rather have a really great pair of shoes than a tummy tuck!

I believe most woman have an inaccurate view of themselves. Including me.

A perfect example is a friend of mine favours white eyeliner..... White eyeliner???  Seriously I get that it’s supposed to widen the eyes and.... I’m not sure what else it’s supposed to do but she wears it and obviously she thinks it looks nice... It doesn’t. (She doesn’t read this particular Blog so I’m relatively safe in writing this)

I’m sure I have things that I wear and I think I look Luuurrrvely and I probably don’t. My friends are too kind to say anything. (I have issues on this as well but more on that another time)

This I feel can be applied to our bodies. We think the size zero is the thing to be we want to look like the models on the catwalk but ladies there’s nothing wrong with curves and nothing wrong with a healthy appetite.

Everything in moderation. God I sound like a 60’s housewife...

Ciao for now xx

Well we’ve been trying My Silhouette now for quite a while and it’s time to see how our bodies have progressed. I have (as probably expected) missed a few applications but I gave it a fairly good go and there were a few things I noticed for example I loved the smell and texture, I agree that It can seem a bit sticky when you first pop it on but actually for me it dries fairly quickly without leaving a residue. I may have dropped a tiny bit of weight lately but I don’t in all honesty know if that is because of the gel.

Still I feel very happy with the state of my thighs and I’m even a titchy bit happier with my tummy! I never thought I’d say that.

I feel often that even the best intentions can go to pot. Say you start a new diet and then something happens in your life and you just clean forget to watch what you’re eating or go down the gym??? I know so many people who join the gym in January and by February never go again, (Well I know at least one. he he!)

So what can we do to start to remember those things you’d really rather forget? I guess the trick is to get into an immoveable routine.

  • Don’t make it difficult for yourself.

  • Do 30 mins at the gym instead of 1 hour so you don’t become bored.

  • Don’t buy the chocolate, cakes and crisps in the supermarket so you don’t have to resist them at home....

If anyone can think of any other ideas I’m all ears.

Despite having a gym membership, the last time I actually entered a gym was….. well a long time ago. Incase you’re interested, NIVEA have a great section on their site called “Feel Good Tips” on exercising, nutrition and well being. Here’s the article I was looking at.

It lists different, fun ways of keeping fit and includes “Dance Yourself Delicious” & Hula Hooping “Hula Heaven”. Oooh they do sound interesting. It got me thinking…….  they don’t sound like hard work & I’ll actually be having fun while I’m doing it.

I think I’ll give the dancing one a go - put on some music & dance around my flat (thankfully my flatmates away for the week) and I’ll let you know how I get on. I’ll put some extra effort in when I dance the night away over the weekend :-)

Ciao for now xx

I was one of THOSE people who really could eat anything (And regularly did) and not put on an ounce in fact my issue was trying to put weight on - Those were the days! (Sigh)Now of course it’s getting a lot trickier to keep those pounds off. Possibly this situation is not helped by the fact that I sit at a desk for about 8 hours a day 4 days a week.I have often heard people say once you get to a certain age your metabolism slows down and today I found proof. (Well an article on the internet which I feel is close enough) It states that
After age 30, the average woman's resting metabolic rate decreases at a rate of 2-3 percent per decade, mainly due to inactivity and muscle loss.’

So does this mean I have to exercise forever more?? Eeeeeeeekkkkkkkk!

Our girls over at Beaut.ie have done a great job with their own post of My Silhouette! (click here to view the blog) and we thought in the spirit of the Beauty blogosphere we really should make an effort to get to know our neighbours so we decided if we wanted to get to know them better than you probably would to.

 beautie.png

We asked the lovely Lynnie 4 questions and here are her answers…

Your favourite flavour of ice cream?
I’m pretty much an equal opportunities ice-cream eater which makes having to pick a favourite tough! (And won’t all the other flavours be sad that I didn’t pick them..?) Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream is probably my all-time favourite, though. Yum yum.

The body part you are most unsatisfied with?
Where do I begin?! Ah no, I’m happy enough with my body most of the time, the only bits I really dislike are my ears and nose. At least things like my feet can be beautified with a pedicure, some pretty nail varnish and fabilis shoes; I’d look a bit odd with strappy sandals hanging off my ears…

Your favourite way to keep fit?
I’m actually one of those weird people who quite likes going to the gym, but I just haven’t had the time to go regularly of late. Now that the evenings are that bit brighter, I try to just get out in the fresh air with the dog of an evening and go for a walk. It’s a more purse-friendly option than the gym, and of course the dog thinks I’m God’s gift after I bring him out which is a nice little ego boost!

One interesting fact that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I am an absolute ‘Property Ladder’ junkie.Sarah Beeny is just brilliant and obviously knows her stuff inside out; I think it’s hilarious that she dispenses all this wonderfully sage, sensible advice and – even in the current series! – the property owner will stand there and go “Right, right, I know exactly what you’re saying and I think you’re probably right. But now I’m going to completely ignore it and do things my own harebrained way…” Classic.

woman-sunbathing.png

Summer is officially here! (Well a few days of it anyway) and if last year is anything to go by we should expect another 8 days just like it- Ahhh the British summer….. British women have perfected the art of time management!

Example.

I was in a London park joined by … oh you know … hundreds of people all on their lunch break and observed this.  Thought I would share it with you.

  • 12.07pm Woman in business attire entered park
12.08pm Woman has attained a position in patch of sun
12.09pm Woman had stripped off business attire to reveal bikini underneath. (Bikini underneath!!)
    12.09-12.53pm Woman sunbathed
12.53pm Woman puts on clothes and heads back to the office.

You have to give it to the Brits we may not have much sun but we sure do make the most of it!
